- Hydraquip acquire well established fluid power company in Cornwall.
- Further strengthens their aim of becoming the leader in the On Site Hose Service market.
- Expands trade counter service for South West England.

I am delighted to announce that on Friday 1st of October we completed the acquisition of the Share Capital of Applied Fluid Power from the founder Colin Child who has now retired.
This is a great location in St Austell, Cornwall which will further extend the service provided to our customers with now 30 trading locations. This acquisition will also add extra support to the 3 On Site 24/7 Mobile Service Engineers we already have established in Cornwall.
It was especially satisfying for my own personal journey in this industry as I have a great amount of respect for Colin Child. As Colin gave me my very first Sales Job in the Hydraulic Hose Industry way back in the early 1980’s. At the time Colin was the General Manager for Medway Hydraulics based in Chatham, Kent and I was a fresh faced and wet behind the ears new Sales Man without a clue the path this would lead me onto. We both left Medway Hydraulics to further our Careers and Colin moved to Cornwall from Kent and established Applied Fluid Power in 1998.
Number 1 Provider of On Site Hose Services
Furthermore, the acquisition is part of a successful strategy we have been working on for some years on our journey to become the Number One provider of On Site Hose Services in the UK. Already we are the UK’s largest independently owned provider, with plenty of energy and resource to keep the business moving forward.
It will remain business as usual in St Austell with all customers immediately able to access the Hydraquip network where they have the need further afield for a full national coverage.
I am very grateful to the Hydraquip team who supported the acquisition and the whole team at our Plymouth Branch who will assist locally with the smooth integration of the two businesses.
