A hydraulic hose failure never happens at a convenient time. Whether it stops a vessel, excavator, production line or waste-handling machine, the priority is restoring operations quickly.
Delays often begin with identifying the failed hose, particularly when markings have worn away, records are missing or the assembly has previously been changed. Hydraquip Smart Tag gives engineers immediate access to the correct hose information, removing uncertainty and speeding up replacement.
What Is Smart Tag?
Smart Tag is Hydraquip’s RFID hose and asset management system.
Each hose is fitted with a durable RFID tag linked to its specification, location, age and service history. The tags are designed for demanding environments, including exposure to heat, oil, salt, dust and changing weather conditions. A secure online portal and mobile app give maintenance teams access to inspection results, photographs, service notes and upcoming actions. The platform also provides automated maintenance schedules, downloadable reports and export options for CMMS and ERP systems.
How Smart Tag Works
RFID tagging is completed in five simple steps.
1. Inspect
Our engineers assess the hoses and components on site with minimal disruption.
2. Tag
Each hose is fitted with a durable, weatherproof RFID tag.
3. Record
The hose specification, location, age and service history are added to a secure database.
4. Monitor
Regular inspections identify wear and support planned maintenance and replacement.
5. Manage
The dashboard provides a clear view of hose condition, maintenance history and upcoming actions.
Where Smart Tag Makes the Biggest Difference
Smart Tag delivers the greatest value where equipment availability is critical or large numbers of hydraulic assets must be managed.
On vessels, identifying a failed hose while at sea can be difficult, time-consuming and costly. Smart Tag provides immediate access to the specification, allowing the correct replacement to be identified and arranged without relying on worn markings or manual measurements. The same benefit applies across manufacturing, agriculture, waste, recycling and other hydraulic machinery. Centralised records give maintenance teams greater control, reduce delays and make fleet-wide planning easier.
Technology Supported by Engineering Experience
Smart Tag identifies the hose, while experienced engineers determine why it failed.
Abrasion, poor routing, excessive movement, heat exposure and wider system issues can all cause repeat failures. Faster identification gives engineers more time to assess the application, address the underlying cause and improve long-term reliability.
Improve Visibility Across Your Hydraulic Assets
Hydraquip provides national Smart Tag roll-out, on site tagging, ongoing inspections, re-tagging and database management. Customers can also access 24/7 mobile hose replacement support when an unexpected failure occurs.
