Meet Stuart Carter
Hydraulic Service Engineer Hydraquip Hose & Hydraulics Cannock
I had been offered a job at Power Panels, a company where one of my relatives worked and accepted the job. The job offered better prospects and I was looking forward to the change of environment. I gained knowledge on the basics of hydraulics while working at Power Panels by fitting hydraulic hose assemblies into machinery, working on wiring machines and building Mazak machines. I worked here for 8 years and realised that I really enjoyed working in the hydraulics industry. I had started to consider applying for hydraulic engineering jobs where I could work on a wider range of hydraulic equipment when Pete Russell, who is now Hydraquip Cannock’s Sales Manager, contacted me. I already knew Pete from my time as a barman and he suggested I contacted Pirtek Wolverhampton to see if they had any vacancies. I was very pleased when I was invited for an interview and thrilled when Pirtek Wolverhampton offered me the job. I started working as a hydraulic engineer based at Pirtek Wolverhampton in 2014 and this was when my real hydraulics training began. I attended some training courses and achieved City & Guilds qualifications in hydraulics whilst working at Pirtek, I also gained lots of industry knowledge whilst working on site on different types of hydraulic equipment and machinery.
After working at Pirtek Wolverhampton for 18 months I was contacted again by Pete Russell who had recently joined the Hydraquip Group and was relocating to the Midlands area to be a part of the team at Hydraquip Cannock which would be opening in the near future. Interested in joining a proactive and fast growing company, I contacted Hydraquip’s Managing Director Duncan MacBain and was offered a job as a hydraulic service engineer based at Hydraquip Hose & Hydraulics Cannock. I accepted and am really enjoying my time at Hydraquip, I feel that it is a very organised company and my colleagues are great, they are very friendly which I think is very important. I also feel that there is a lot of scope to improve my engineering knowledge and progress, strengthening Hydraquip’s 24/7 On Site Hose Service even further.
In my spare time I like to play the guitar, I have played it since I was a young child. I own 6 guitars including a Gibson SG, Epiphone Les Paul and a Martin Acoustic. One of my hobbies is painting which I still like to do, I have painted various signs for pubs in the local area, one of them I like to play pool at every Saturday night.
